The Mitchells of Fifty Six
The Stone County Historical Society has recently published this compilation of family stories written by Patsy Mitchell Newcomb. The stories are delightful to read and tell of life in that area from the early 1900’s to about 1950. The book also includes stories about the Fifty-Six School contributed by Bonnie Hudspeth Cartwright and other family memories by Marjorrie Mitchell Lowe, as well as family genealogy and pictures.
The book is available now at Lancaster’s Hardware on the Square. Society members can pick up their free copy from Charlotte. The price for non-members is $10.00 (+$2 if mailed).
Membership to the Society is open to anyone interested in the history of Stone County. Annual dues are $15.00 per calendar year. Contact the Stone County Historical Society by email firstname.lastname@example.org, on our Facebook page, or at PO Box 210, Mountain View, AR 72560.
